Facing New Elements and Time Zones at the 2025 Grand Prix du Quebec
The Goldfins swim team is gearing up to make waves as they head to Montreal, Quebec, from July 24 to 27, 2025, to compete in the prestigious Grand Prix du Quebec. This exciting summer event will feature some of the Goldfins’ finest athletes, including Keiran Dyck, Foster Fourney, Oliver Genest, Avery Houle, and Isabel Magus, who are all set to showcase their talents on a grand stage.
Preparing for a Competitive Challenge
Steven Hitchings, Goldfins Head Coach, emphasized the significance of this opportunity for the swimmers. “Taking these swimmers East to compete will ensure that they continue to be exposed to a large competitive field,” Hitchings reflected. He further noted the unique experience of competing in an outdoor facility. “Competing in the elements is always a challenge, however, it is a pleasant change, as our Canadian seasons typically dictate an indoors-only competitive experience for our developing swimmers.”
Adapting to New Environments
For these high-performance athletes, adapting to new challenges, such as time zone changes, is an integral part of their development. Hitchings highlighted the importance of this aspect, stating, “Swimmers make schedule adjustments to ensure they are well prepared for the time differentiation. I am looking forward to some terrific swims, as the majority of the travel team will continue their preparations for the 2025 Jeux du Canada Games in August.”
