Goldfins Swim Club Hosts Successful Racing Series Finale

On a vibrant Saturday, June 7, 2025, the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club proudly hosted the grand finale of the 2025 Craven Services Racing Series at the Shaw Centre in Saskatoon, SK. The event was a celebration of competitive spirit and camaraderie, drawing clubs from across Saskatchewan, including the Saskatoon Lasers, Prince Albert Sharks, Meadow Lake Stingrays, Saskatoon Sharks, and the Battleford Kinsmen Orcas.

 

Competition Highlights

The event witnessed participation from 135 age group athletes alongside 16 Masters swimmers representing the Battleford Orcas Masters Swim Club, Saskatoon Lasers Masters Swim Club, and the Goldfins Masters Swim Club. Age group swimmers showcased their prowess in five individual events and one relay event, striving to achieve personal bests and top rankings in their categories. The competition was fierce, with swimmers eligible for Top Age Group awards based on their World Aquatic Point standings.

 

Goldfins Top Performers

The Goldfins swimmers excelled, securing top three positions in various age groups:

Girls 8 & Under:

  • Brette White – 1st
  • Tessa Diaz Donovan – 2nd

Girls 11 & Over:

  • Adalyn Kent – 2nd
  • Alina Ma – 3rd

Boys 8 & Under:

  • Jasper Ledingham-Off – 1st
  • David Goncharov – 2nd
  • Cohen Dickson – 3rd

Boys 9 – 10:

  • Danny Wang – 1st
  • Rhett Ruzesky – 3rd

Terrific Performances

The Goldfins were represented by 73 swimmers who delivered outstanding performances, achieving 159 personal best short course times. Impressively, thirty swimmers posted 100% personal best times, including athletes like Aliyah Aubut, Everly Bartlett, and Isaac Xie, among others.

Isaac Xie delivered a remarkable performance with a 28.6% improvement in the 50 Breaststroke, shaving off an impressive 18.04 seconds. Alex Kovalenko and David Goncharov also showed significant improvements in their respective events.

 

New Provincial Qualifying Standards

Several Goldfins swimmers achieved new Swim Saskatchewan Provincial Time Standards, including:

Saskatchewan Senior Provincial Qualifying Time Standards:

  • Mateo Jarcan – 400 Freestyle

Saskatchewan A Short Course Provincial Qualifying Time Standards:

  • Jacob Findlay – 200 Individual Medley
  • Cohen Veikle – 400 Freestyle
  • Isaac Xie – 50 & 200 Breaststroke

 

 

Acknowledgments and Future Events

The success of the event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of Goldfins parents, officials, and volunteers, including Meet Managers and Senior Officials. Special thanks to Dairy Queen Blairmore for providing a Tasty Blizzard treat to each swimmer. The Goldfins swimmers are eagerly gearing up for their next competition at the 2025 Mike Mintenko Summerfest in Moose Jaw, SK, on June 21 & 22, 2025.
