Saskatoon Goldfins Gear Up for Third Annual Norm Banfield Memorial Swim Meet

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club is poised to make waves at the 3rd Annual Norm Banfield Memorial Swim Meet, scheduled for October 2–4, 2026, in Regina, Saskatchewan. This eagerly anticipated event marks the first away swim meet on the Goldfins' 2026-2027 competition calendar, offering a platform for showcasing the diverse talents of the club’s athletes.

Throughout the weekend, the competition will unfold in a series of short course events, each held as timed finals. The Goldfins Swim Club, with a robust contingent of 55 swimmers, will proudly represent their community, competing in both individual and relay events.

Event Schedule:

  • Friday, October 2, 2026: The meet will kick off with Session 1. Swimmers will arrive on deck at 4:10 PM with the warm up starting at 4:30 PM, with competitions beginning at 5:40 PM. Events include the 50M Freestyle, 200M Breaststroke, 100M Backstroke, and 400M Individual Medley.

  • Saturday, October 3, 2026: Session 2 starts with our Goldfins arriving on deck at 8:10 AM with the warm-up at 8:30 AM and competition at 9:40 AM. The events are the 100M Fly, 200M Individual Medley, 50M Breaststroke, and 100M Freestyle. Later, Session 3 will commence with the Goldfins arrival at 3:40 PM followed by the 4:00 PM warm-up.  Racing will start at 5:10 PM, featuring the 50M Backstroke, 200M Fly, 100M Breaststroke, 200M Freestyle, and 200M Mixed Freestyle Relay.

  • Sunday, October 4, 2026: Goldfins swimmers will arrive at 8:10 AM for the final session's competition to start at 9:40 AM.  This session will showcase the 200M Mixed Medley Relay, 100M Individual Medley, 200M Backstroke, and 50M Fly.

 

Please note, that training is cancelled October 2 - 3, 2026 for the White 3, Blue 1, Blue 2, Blue 3, Gold 1 and Gold 2 Goldfins Training Groups.  Regular training will resume on Monday, October 5, 2026 for all Groups.

Packing Checklist for Goldfins Swimmers

To ensure readiness and comfort throughout the meet, swimmers are reminded to pack the following essentials:

  • Two towels

  • Tight-fitting goggles

  • A snug blue swimsuit

  • Goldfins’ cap(s)

  • Water bottle

  • A variety of healthy and nutritous snacks

  • Blue Goldfins T-shirt

  • Shorts/sweats

  • Deck shoes

  • Notebook (Log Book) & pen/pencil
