Welcome to Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club
The Goldfins Swimming Club attributes its success to the dedication and training of its swimmers, the professional direction of its coaching staff, the administration and moral support of its parent group and the generous sponsorship and financial support of the community.
Goldfins Athletes and Parents,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter as your new Head Coach. The Goldfins have a rich history of success and with the assistance of a strong coaching staff and board of directors I know we can continue this tradition. As we embark on the 2010-11 season we will create an exciting and energized training environment where the athletes enjoy coming to the pool and working toward their goals.
For those of you who do not know me, I have been coaching for 10 years, the last 7 of those as a Head Coach. I spent 6 years in Ontario as Head Coach of South Western Aquatics. During my tenure there the team won Provincial, National, Canada Games and International medals, and grew from 68 to 165 members. I spent this past season with the Lasers as Head Coach and had considerable success there as well. I know this trend will continue with the Goldfins, on a larger scale and with even more success!
With the opening of the new Shaw Centre we are beginning a new era for the Goldfins. Not only are we training and racing at a state-of-the-art facility but we also have an abundance of pool space available. I am currently in the process of designing a training schedule that will take full advantage of this, with the goal of minimizing the differences in the training schedules from group to group. My hope is to make the schedule as user friendly as possible, alleviating some of the pressure on parents, especially those with multiple athletes.
I am very pleased to announce that we will be conducting two travel training camps during the 2011 Easter Break. The Age Group athletes will be heading off to Jasper for a week of swimming and outdoor adventure, and the Senior athletes will be travelling to the Southern U.S. for some outdoor training in the sun. Both camps will be excellent opportunities to kick start the long course season and will serve as great team building experiences!
I hope you are all as excited as I am for the coming season. It’s going to be an outstanding year for our club!
I look forward to meeting you all in the near future.
Yours in swimming,
Paul Armstrong
