Goldfins Will Compete in the First Home Meet of the 2024 Season - 47th Goldfins Invitational
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club is hosting the 47th Annual Goldfins Invitational Swim Meet at the Shaw Centre, October 27 – 29, 2023. This meet will offer swimmers with an opportunity to compete in a senior structured meet format, offering preliminary heats and finals sessions. The Goldfins will play host to over 350 swimmers, ranging in ages from 7 – 67 years.
“The Goldfins are looking forward to hosting the 47th Goldfins Invitational, which will be our first hosted meet of the season,” Goldfins Head Coach Steven Hitchings shared in a Goldfins coach meeting this week. “This weekend, we have teams attending from across Saskatchewan and Alberta making this a good competition to start the season.”
“This will be the first meet for many of our Goldfins older swimmers, adding to the excitement level. I can see the dedication to training and therefore, the improvement the swimmers (and coaches) have demonstrated to this point of the season. I can’t wait to see everyone in action this weekend.”
Hitchings reflected on the Goldfins parents commitment surrounding the hosting of this event, “A special shout out to our meet management team for all their work in putting the swim meet together. I would also like to thank the volunteers. This meet truly could not be offered without the assistance of these enthusiastic individuals.”
The meets’ schedule for the weekend is as follows:
Session 1: Friday, October 27, 2023 – Swimmer Arrival: 7:10 AM & Competition: 8:30 AM
Preliminary Events: 100M Backstroke, 50M Fly, 200M Breaststroke, 50M Freestyle, 400M IM, 800M Freestyle
Session 2: Friday, October 27, 2023 – Swimmer Arrival: 4:10 PM & Competition: 5:30 PM
Finals Events: 100M Backstroke, 50M Fly, 200M Breaststroke, 50M Freestyle, 400M IM, 4 X 100M Freestyle Relay
Session 3: Saturday, October 28, 2023 – Swimmer Arrival: 7:10 AM & Competition: 8:30 AM
Preliminary Events: 100M Freestyle, 200M Fly, 200M Backstroke, 50M Breaststroke, 400M Freestyle
Session 4: Saturday, October 28, 2023 – Swimmer Arrival: 4:10 PM & Competition: 5:30 PM
Finals Events: 100M Freestyle, 200M Fly, 200M Backstroke, 50M Breaststroke, 400M Freestyle, 4 X 100M Medley Relay
Session 5: Sunday, October 29, 2023 – Swimmer Arrival: 7:10 AM & Competition: 8:30 AM
Preliminary Events: 200M Freestyle, 100M Breaststroke, 200M IM, 50M Backstroke, 100M Fly, 1500M Freestyle
Session 6: Sunday, October 29, 2023 – Swimmer Arrival: 3:10 PM & Competition: 4:30 PM
Finals Events: 200M Freestyle, 100M Breaststroke, 200M IM, 50M Backstroke, 100M Fly, 4 X 50 Mixed Medley Relay
