Provincial Records Broken at the Craven SPORT Services Racing Series #2

The Saskatoon Goldfins competed in the Craven SPORT Services Racing Series #2 on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Shaw Centre, Saskatoon, SK.  The Goldfins were represented by 49 White Group swimmers and 16 Goldfins Masters swimmers.

It was a record-breaking weekend for the Goldfins Masters Swim Club.  Denise Gilewicz broke the Provincial Women's 60 - 64 Short Course 100M Backstroke record with a new time of 1:33.93. Peter Doig broke three Men’s 65 – 69 Provincial Masters Short Course Records: 50M Backstroke (38.34), 100M Breaststroke (1:30.14), and 50M Fly (34.49).  Melvin Hitchings broke the Men’s 75 – 79 100M IM posting a time of 2:16.28.

 

 

Goldfins Masters Coach, Gary Cheung, expressed satisfaction with the swimmers' performance during this timed final meet of the 2024 swim season. Cheung mentioned, "It was great to witness the Goldfins Masters participate in this event." He added, "For a few of our Masters swimmers, this was their inaugural swim meet of the 2024 season, and they were content with how they did." The Club eagerly anticipates competing in upcoming meets this season.

Goldfins Masters swimmers who posted 100% short course best times: Denise Gilewicz, Kimberley Kelley, Allison Kruger, Aaron Reynolds and Susan Ryan.

 

The Goldfins Swim had a very successful Craven SPORT Services Age Group Racing Series #2 swim meet.  Congratulations to the Goldfins swimmers who posted 100% Personal Best Short Course times: Farrah Aitken, Carlin Armstrong, Kyla Butterworth, Jacob Findlay, Zeyah Flemming, Elsa Fletcher, Claire Gerich, Vanessa Godbout, Adalyn Kent, Hannah Larson, AJ Leganchuk, Olivia Lovick, Elliotte Mah, and Dakota Wigness.

Kyla Butterworth                     50M Backstroke            “-9.14”             16.7% Improvement

Cohen Veikle                           100M IM                      “-18.66”           15.8% Improvement

Piper Veikle                             50M Backstroke            “-8.45”             13.9% Improvement

The team is thankful for the dedication and support of the numerous volunteers and officials who helped make the Craven SPORT Services Racing Series a success.

The Goldfins Swim Club will be back in action at the Provincial Championship swim meets Saskatchewan Junior Short Course Championships – February 23 – 25, 2024 (Moose Jaw, SK) and in the Man/SK Winter Senior Provincial Championships – March 7 – 10, 2024 (Saskatoon, SK).
